Cinder Hills Boarding Kennel is Flagstaff’s most experienced kennel having its doors opened in 1972. Valorie Bowman is the third owner of the kennel, purchasing it in 2001. Since then we have tremendously upgraded and expanded the facility. We are Flagstaff’s only kennel that offers tiled floors, in-floor heating and cat condos each with a window! The kennel is located on 5 acres of land so there is plenty of room for exercise and fun!

In addition to our in-house training program, our entire staff is trained and independently certified through the Pet Care Services Association.  No other pet care facility in the area can make this claim! Our staff has been with us for years as we have a very low turnover rate. This is important to your pet…to see the same people each time they come in! We truly get to know your pet and ensure they get personalized service!

We maintain an excellent relationship with veterinarians in the area. We not only keep up on Flagstaff area “pet issues”, but these same veterinarians provide us ongoing training subjects to keep our staff current.

Our day begins at 7:30 AM when we open the dogs up to the “outside” portion of their den. The dogs are fed and their waters are changed out. We scoop and clean up the dens. This gets us to about 9:30 AM when the staff splits up. Some start on our Fun in the Forest hikes while others will start individual playtimes within the kennel yard. We do not co-mingle dogs from different families, preferring to give “one-on-one” attention. We will break from this routine around midday, although the office stays open during the lunch period. We start back up with playing and hiking after lunch and continue until the office closes for the day. The dogs are locked inside their indoor portion when the sun starts to set. At 8:30 PM, we open everyone back up and let them have one last time to “do their business” before we bring them back in, tuck them in, give them a treat and say goodnight! This means your pet is only locked inside from about 9:30 PM until 7:30 AM. We do give complimentary dog cookies throughout the day, unless you direct us otherwise.
